Official opening of the “Mann at War”
Official opening of the “Mann at War”, which is a new exhibition at the Manx Museum commemorating the role of the Manx Men, Women and Children in conflict. Vice Chairman of the Manx National Heritage trustees, Malcolm Kelly gave the opening remarks, but the gallery was officially opened by Professor Eric Grove who is a British naval historian and defence analyst.
Oct 2018 – Tommy Soldiers’ unveiling outside Onchan District Commissioners’ offices
The unveiling is part of the ‘There but not There’ Campaign and commemorations of the centenary of the end of the First World War. There was also a presentation of coins to some students from both the Onchan Junior Schools and St Ninian’s Lower School.
Celebrating the Manx Electric Railway’s 125th Anniversary on 7th September 2018.
The historic line first opened in 1893 from Derby Castle to Groudle Glen and His Excellency, the Lieutenant Governor unveiled a plaque to mark the very special occasion. We then headed to Groudle Glen on the original tram from 1893, during which time Charles Guard outlined the history of the Manx Electric Railway.
